Also, he is strong in Cloud-based solutions, Big Data Technology, Data Mining and Machine Learning. Moreover, Mr. Chan has obtained a Bachelor Degree in Mathematics from The Chinese University of Hong Kong as well as three Master Degrees in Risk Management Science from The Chinese University of Hong Kong, Quantitative Analysis for Business from City University of Hong Kong and Industrial Logistics Systems from The Hong Kong Polytechnic University.

He obtained a Bachelor of Science degree from the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, with a major in Physics and minors in Mathematics, and Social Science. Mr. Mak also attained more than 10 professional qualifications in accounting, insurance and investment-related areas. He holds the Chartered Alternative Investment Analyst (CAIA), Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA), Certified Financial Planner (CFP), Chartered Certified Accountant (ACCA), Certified Practising Accountant Australia (CPAA), RICS Chartered Surveyors (MRICS) and Fellow of Life Management Institute (FLMI) designations, and is a certified Financial Risk Manager (FRM) and Professional Risk Manager (PRM).

He obtained his EdD from the University of Leicester. He is a financial writer at China Daily. He also serves as the Honorary Flight Lieutenant of the Hong Kong Air Cadet Corps.
