Joining Hands with Google Cloud to Accelerate Digital Transformation
HKU SPACE has established a strategic partnership with Google Cloud Hong Kong to accelerate AI transformation in education. First, the School rolls out the Gemini Enterprise for Education platform to all teachers and students to enhance teaching efficiency and foster a personalised learning experience. Second, both parties will comprehensively drive the digital transformation of education by establishing a Google Cloud AI Lab to support student innovation projects and building the HKU SPACE x Google AI Prompt Library as a systematic resource.
At the same time, in terms of curriculum planning and development, building on the strong foundation of the existing 70+ AI courses, both parties will collaborate to develop AI-centric curricula and optimise current teaching content. Lastly, regarding talent cultivation and knowledge exchange, Google experts will host professional training and certification courses, and both sides will engage in joint promotions. In addition to the School's active participation in the flagship Google Cloud Leaders Connect event, Mr Michael Yung, Strategic Advisor of Google Cloud, will also serve as a keynote speaker at the School's Open SPACE, officially unveiling this deep strategic partnership.
Establishing the AI Hub and Deploying Smart Assistants
Committed to pioneering innovative teaching, HKU SPACE established the "AI Hub" in January 2024 as a one-stop governance, support, and resource platform. This platform integrates diverse tools such as ChatGPT, generative AI, and big data analytics, and hosts the School’s official guidelines on GenAI usage. Accompanied by detailed user guides, it helps beginners seamlessly overcome technical barriers.
For campus services, the School has launched a bilingual AI Chatbot on its official website and mobile app, available 24/7. The chatbot provides instant responses to programme and event enquiries, reducing manual handling time and enabling students to access key information more quickly.
Integrating Internal Data to Streamline Administrative Procedures
To fulfill its commitment to boosting staff efficiency and student experience, the proprietary institutional platform "HKU SPACE AI Chat" was created. Integrating advanced AI models like ChatGPT and DeepSeek, the system supports multimodal inputs (text, documents, and images) to provide real-time answers to academic and administrative queries, significantly reducing workload pressures on staff.
Through this platform, staff can integrate and analyse data, greatly simplifying administrative workflows. This service has now been extended to full-time students at the community colleges, driving operational efficiency across both academic and administrative levels.
