  • The cooperation between the University of London and HKU SPACE (formerly the Department of Extra Mural Studies – DEMS) is a longstanding one. From its outset, over 60 years ago, DEMS offered preparatory Law courses for the LLB degree. In the 1980s, responding to community demand, HKU SPACE expanded its teaching provision to also include the Accounting, Banking, Business, Economics, Finance and Management programmes (Academic Direction: London School of Economics and Political Science). This was followed by the BSc in Computing and Information Systems (Academic Direction: Goldsmiths). HKU SPACE has also collaborated with SOAS and Royal Holloway and supports the MSc Professional Accountancy (Academic Direction: UCL) and Global MBA (Academic Direction: Queen Mary) degrees.

  • In addition to providing preparatory courses, HKU SPACE also has a longstanding administrative arrangement with the University of London. This means that HKU SPACE acts as an Admissions Office for the University of London and receives and processes applications. Those who fulfill University admission criteria may receive their Letters of Eligibility directly from HKU SPACE on London's behalf.

  • As part of its 150th Anniversary celebrations in 2008, the University of London made special awards to six institutions worldwide in recognition of their contributions and efforts as partners. HKU SPACE was proud to be chosen as one of the six and the only one in Hong Kong.

  • HKU SPACE continues a sustained commitment of over 60 years of working with London. The School became a Recognised Teaching Centre of the University of London in September 2009, and this was renewed in August 2018 under the University of London’s revised quality regime which demonstrates the commitment to quality provision at HKU SPACE. To further cement the relationship, a Strategic Partnership Agreement was signed in 2018 and renewed in 2023 committing both partners to continued collaboration in the academic and professional fields.

One-Stop Service for Application and Registration via HKU SPACE

  • For the past 30 years, HKU SPACE has provided a one-stop service for application and registration for admission to many undergraduate degree programmes of the University of London. These services are offered for the convenience of all Hong Kong applicants whether or not they are HKU SPACE students.

  • For applicants to the Master of Laws, the MSc Professional Accountancy, the Global MBA and other postgraduate courses, we provide a service of verification of documentary evidence and submission of application forms with a charge of $350.

  • For those not applying via our office, we now also offer a verification of documentary evidence service for all University of London applications with a charge of $350.

These are exempted courses under the Non-local Higher and Professional Education (Regulation) Ordinance. It is a matter of discretion for individual employers to recognise any qualification to which these courses may lead.

Postgraduate Programmes

For key dates of the Global MBA, MSc Professional Accountancy and other postgraduate programmes, please refer to details in the relevant prospectus.

These are exempted courses under the Non-local Higher and Professional Education (Regulation) Ordinance. It is a matter of discretion for individual employers to recognise any qualification to which these courses may lead.

Early application is recommended because:

  • applications that do not meet the general entrance and/or course requirements of a programme will have to be referred to the University of London Admissions Panel for a final decision. This requires considerable processing time, so application before mid-June 2024 is advised; and

  • a relevant HKU SPACE preparatory course may be full or start well before the University of London programmes application deadline. Enrolments on HKU SPACE preparatory courses  are on a first-come, first-served basis.
