The school’s new Kowloon West Campus is now open at 888 Lai Chi Kok Road. This is the 11th HKU SPACE learning centre and, like all the other centres across Hong Kong island and Kowloon, it is conveniently located and easy to get to by public transport.

Situated directly adjacent to the Lai Chi Kok MTR station, the Centre epitomises the School’s philosophy of “bringing classes to the students”, and fulfills its professional mission of providing high-quality education in the heart of every community.

The opening ceremony took place on 10 March 2023 and was attended by about 100 guests including members of the School Board of Directors, Committees and the Alumni Council.

The acquisition of the property is part of the School’s long-term development strategy of continually expanding and improving teaching venues and student facilities. The Kowloon West Campus exemplifies this with an enrolment centre, nine classrooms of different sizes, one special room, two computer labs, three student common rooms and advanced facilities that altogether provide students with an ideal learning environment.

A unique facility caters to the current interest in learning about wine and coffee with a special professional-grade “life kitchen”. This offers advanced equipment including wine cellars, espresso machines and glass chillers. For those who aspire to become professional sommeliers, baristas, or just want to learn about wine & food pairing, this well-equipped kitchen will help them master these skills more effectively.

The Student Common Rooms also have very ingenious designs with extensive glass partitions that allow plenty of natural light to penetrate into the interior, to create a brighter, more dynamic space, while warm colour tones ensure a relaxed atmosphere and a comfortable home-from-home feeling for the students that promotes a sense of belonging.
