The Yijing states: "The Yellow River produces the Hetu, the Luo River produces the Luoshu, and the sages follow them." This clearly indicates that the Eight Trigrams of the Yijing originate from the Hetu and Luoshu, but what exactly these diagrams are was never more specifically explained. It was not until the Southern Song dynasty, when Zhu Xi printed the Hetu and Luoshu in his *Original Meaning of the Zhouyi*, that people came to know what the diagrams supposedly looked like. However, recent archaeological discoveries may have found the ancient Luoshu, which indirectly proves that Zhu Xi's versions of the Hetu and Luoshu have significant problems. This lecture will open up and explore with everyone this age-old mystery of the Hetu and Luoshu.
