On 31 March 2026, a delegation led by Professor William K.M. Lee, Director of HKU SPACE, visited the Shenzhen Campus of Sun Yat‑sen University (SYSU) and was warmly received by Dean Mr He Xiaozhong and the team from the School of Continuing Education (SCE) of SYSU. Accompanied by Dean Mr He and his colleagues, the delegation toured Yixian Building, teaching facilities, the library, Scholars’ Residence, and the School of Intelligent Engineering, gaining in‑depth insights into the campus’s teaching facilities, research environment, and overall development planning. The delegation also visited the Unmanned Aerial Vehicle Laboratory and the Joint Laboratory of Transportation and Artificial Intelligence, where they learned about the latest technological innovations and research outcomes. The visit concluded with an exchange meeting, during which both sides exchanged views on potential directions for future collaboration.

During the meeting, Dean Mr He introduced the overall academic landscape of the Shenzhen Campus as well as the latest developments of the SCE of SYSU. Discussions subsequently focused on future collaboration opportunities, including leveraging the respective strengths of Hong Kong and Shenzhen to jointly develop new initiatives. Key areas explored included staff and student exchange programmes, the expansion of overseas initiatives, the co‑development of talent‑training programmes in artificial intelligence and technological innovation for the Greater Bay Area, and the organisation of winter and summer exchange programmes with distinctive Greater Bay Area characteristics.

This visit yielded fruitful outcomes and laid a solid foundation for further collaboration between the two institutions.
