Many secondary students believe that pursuing an English degree is simply about improving spoken fluency, perfecting grammar, or achieving. Higher IELTS score.  This seminar aims to shatter that misconception and reveal what it truly means to major in English Studies.  Designed specifically for students spiring to become English teachers or communication professionals, this session takes you "under the hood" of the English language.  We will explore the two core pillars of the Associate of Ats in English Language and Literature programme: linguistics and literature.  Participants will discover how linguistics (the science of language) provides the essential mechanics needed to effectively teach pronunciation, syntax, and language acquisition.  Simultaneously, we will explore how literature (the power of stories) builds the cultural understanding, critical thinking, and empathy required to inspire future students. Join us to learn why being a great teacher requires more than just knowing how to use the language - it requires understanding how the language actually works.  The session will also feature sharing from current students and outline articulation pathways to university degrees and rewarding careers.
