Annual School Concert 2019SPACE got Talent

SPACE got Talent

The Annual School Concert “SPACE got Talent” was held on 21 May in the College Theatre at the Lee Shiu Building of HKU SPACE Community College to celebrate the Community College’s 20th anniversary and attracted an audience of over 300 people. Professor Edward K.Y. Chen, Chairman of the Board of Directors of HKU SPACE; Dr Darwin Chen, Former Chairman; Professor Enoch C.M. Young, Former Director, HKU SPACE teachers, students and alumni all came to support the talented performers from the School.

The concert opened with vocal teacher Ms Marisa Kwok singing ‘Bizet’s Je dis que rien ne m'épouvante’, a beautiful yet challenging aria from the French Opera ‘Carmen’ accompanied by Ms Grace Yu on the piano. This was followed by a lovely Xinjiang folksong《帕米爾, 我的家鄉多麼美》, prior to something rather special for the occasion. The sublime calligraphy of Mr Wong Chai-lok, one of the School’s Honorary Fellows and a teacher at HKU SPACE, was displayed on screen to the accompaniment of live music by CMus, led by teacher Dr Yeung Wai-kit, CMus perfectly demonstrated how music met calligraphy.

Next was a rendering of 《陪著你走》by members of the HKU SPACE CCSU Music Society and then ‘Closer’ and ‘The Lazy Song’ by the finalists of Community College English Singing Contest. The concert concluded with a dynamic and unforgettable dance performance by the students of the HKU SPACE CCSU Dance Society.

We would like to express our deepest gratitude to the teachers, alumni and CC students for their extraordinary efforts and captivating performance. Our sincere thanks also goes to the event sponsor, Mr William Au Weng-hei, SBS, JP, and all other patrons, for their generous sponsorship.
