The programme aims to: 

1. impart financial and investment management knowledge and skills to students to enhance their financial decision making;
2. facilitate students to understand and analyze contemporary issues as well as the latest development in the financial world;
3. prepare students to sit for the CFA examinations based on the Candidate Body of Knowledge;
4. equip students with the latest technologies on Big Data and Artificial Intelligence for financial industry;
5. stimulate students to apply financial intelligence to perform investment management.

This Postgraduate Diploma is one of the most comprehensive courses offered by HKU SPACE in Investment Management. It is designed to follow the CFA syllabus and to focus on the current market trends and regulatory progression. This programme attracts a diverse group of students with background from finance, engineering, technology, business, management, government. Tutors are all market practitioners. 

Financial engineering requires the application of mathematical methods and information technology to analyze financial problems quantitatively. Financial engineers are responsible for creating structured financial products, building mathematical risk models as well as developing algorithmic trading system which facilitate effective investment decision making, managing financial and investment risk with quantitative modeling and computing technology. This programme is designed for those who plan to pave their career path as a financial engineer or quantitative analyst. The programme is taught by financial and investment practitioners, who are all senior professionals from investment banks or finance industry.

Going public is a significant milestone in a company’s development. However, this initial public offering (IPO) exercise is a complicated and time-consuming process loaded with hurdles and contingencies.

To leverage the capital markets to provide expansion capital is an increasingly important strategic consideration for enterprises in Hong Kong and Mainland China.  To these expanding fast-growing companies, having the companies’ shares listed in the recognised stock exchanges (both within Greater China or overseas jurisdictions) is an important business strategic decision. 

The target student groups for this programme are financial services practitioners who need to understand treasury from the customer’s perspective and would like to pursue in-depth knowledge of banking and corporate treasury function in global financial markets. Practitioners such as front office dealers, specialists in treasury banking operations, corporate treasury specialists, treasury risk analysts, treasury management product analysts, treasury and pension officers, corporate treasury back office specialists, internal auditors in treasury operations, or consultants are suitable to attend the programme.
TMA will offer the TMA Level 2 (Full Member) membership to graduates who have successfully completed this programme.

 

The programme will be retitled to BSc Finance^#, effective from September 2023. (^#The change of the programme title is subject to the final approval of the Hong Kong Council for Accreditation of Academic and Vocational Qualifications.)

This degree provides students with a significant insight of the financial role in industrialized economies by exploring the financial markets, interaction between financial intermediations and all other financial institutes. Not only students will learn about the pricing of financial assets and why and how corporations issue various types of assets, but they will also look at the operation of domestic and international intermediations.

This degree programme allows students to achieve the knowledge of 'effective management' to understand the operation of organisations by exploring different disciplines; economics, finance, organisation theory, mathematics and statistics. The programme is also suitable for people who are interested in general management, further studies in management or related disciplines, as it provides an in-depth study of the both economics and general management options.

課程旨在教授學員認識不同經濟大國和聯盟的政策及經濟發展，了解新國際經濟秩序下對不同國家及地區的金融市場所產生的影響，從而研究有關環球投資的課題。此外，本課程亦會指導學員就有關環球投資進行經濟及投資分析，選擇適合自己的環球投資策略。
 

近年金融市場瞬息萬變，環球經濟充斥著很多不穩定因素，投資者要於日趨複雜的投資市場獲利，便須進一步了解各種投資產品，並運用不同的交易策略以增加投資回報及避險。 本課程除包含股票、外匯、衍生產品及對冲基金的投資理論外，更引用不同實例講解複雜的交易策略，務求以深入淺出的方法讓學員掌握不同市况的投資策略。

The Certificate for Module (Private Equity and IPO) aims to provide students with essential knowledge in Private Equity markets and Initial Public Offering (IPO). It will discuss various issues such as the development of Private Equity markets and IPO in different regions; the structuring and executing Private Equity and IPO; the considerations and processes involved in Private Equity and IPO transactions, updated legal and regulatory development in Hong Kong. Real-life cases will also be discussed. After completing the programme, students can understand the processes and contemporary issues related to Private Equity and IPO.
