This distance learning degree is for you if you are based in, or near, Hong Kong and you want to gain the knowledge and skills you need to develop your career in the museum and galleries profession.

This course will provide you with a thorough understanding of the major theoretical, methodological and professional themes at the forefront of contemporary museum studies. It will equip you with the practical and theoretical experience needed to become a creative and effective museum and gallery professional or to further advance your career in the sector.

The course is designed to be flexible, so you can choose when to study. It offers carefully designed teaching material and reading which offer flexibility and allow you to fit your study around other commitments. These materials are delivered through online resources in the University’s virtual learning environment, Blackboard. This includes recorded lectures, international case studies of museum practice, guided readings, group discussions and self-led activities to support your learning.

The programme aims to:

1. enable students to pursue in-depth academic studies (criticism and theory) and practical skills in photography;

2. introduce students to the historical background, development, and contemporary challenges of vintage & modern photography;

3. examine existing visual art theories and related critiques from historical, technical, and philosophical perspectives;

4. explore contemporary lens-based photography through a curriculum integrating culture, theory, and practice;

5. provide students with the opportunity to critique and reflect on their photographic learning through projects and written essays.

 

This programme aims to provide a basic understanding of art and design for beginners and those who have some knowledge of art to develop their artistic skills and creative ability. Students are to choose 5 modules from our regular programme and complete special assignments.

本課程旨在提高學員對攝影藝術的認識和理解，並掌握數碼攝影、彩色攝影、影室燈光及黑白攝影技巧，以達致創作出富有含意和藝術美感的作品。

本課程旨在加強學員對塑膠彩人體寫生的認識和技法，掌握如何運用塑膠彩去表現人體的骨骼結構、肌肉質感、人體與空間的關係等。學員亦可嘗試結合自身的藝術素質和美學觸覺，創造具有個人風格和特色的人體藝術，並學習欣賞和評價塑膠彩人體寫生作品。
 

「藝術」的概念看似簡單，但原來它在人類社會中擔當的角色源遠流長，而且越益複雜。本課程引用跨學術的視野探討藝術的來源和本質，嘗試為「藝術」建立一個基本的定義，從而闡述它與人和社會的關係和功用，為學員開拓一個欣賞藝術的全新視野。

完成課程後，學生應能夠：

一. 闡述藝術的本質、源起和功用；
二. 叙述文化、歷史、宗教和藝術的關係；
三. 說明藝術於文明、個人和社會發展中的多元角色；及
四. 展示對視覺語言和藝術分析的能力。

本課程旨在加強學員對人體寫生的認識和技法，運用不同媒介去表現人體的骨骼結構、肌肉質感、人體與空間的關係。學員亦可嘗試結合自身的藝術素質和美學觸覺，創作具有個人風格和特色作品，並學習欣賞和評價人體寫生作品。

本課程為期約兩年，旨在向學員提供不同媒介的創作經驗，並以現代表現手法為重點；同時教授視覺元素理論，及西方當代藝術的發展，培養及提升學員在藝術創作和欣賞的能力，以助其在學業和事業上的發展。
