Student Sharing - Certificate in Korean (Intermediate)

"Three years ago, I started this language just because it sounded cool if you know a foreign language, and my friend said why not choose Korean. At the time, I knew nothing about Korea, let alone its culture or history.

Throughout the years, I became more and more interested in Korea cultures such as the food, dramas and variety shows. Entered the 3rd year of my Korean journey with the course Certificate in Korean (Intermediate), surprisingly it was not as hard as I thought it would be.

The course was very structured that students could learn grammars and vocabs in an easy way. The assignments available on SOUL also helped us to recap the knowledge taught in class. Presentation was required in this course, which helped me to boost my confidence in speaking Korean loudly in front of people. Teachers of this course were also very nice and they welcomed us to ask questions.

Now I am already in my 4th year of learning Korean, and I am looking forward to the coming classes."

I joined the HKU SPACE Certificate in Korean (Intermediate) last year, and I enjoyed it immensely! Our class teacher was a native speaker who was very friendly and patient in her teaching. Her explanations were clear and easy to follow, making the whole experience interesting, as the classes were quite interactive and full of joy. I am grateful to the teachers from the past few years for keeping my enthusiasm alive as I am now pursuing the next level in my Korean studies!

中級韓語跟基礎韓語和入門韓語最大的分別是，從中級韓語開始就由韓國人老師負責授課。

一開始時我很擔心自己會聽不懂老師在說什麼。可是上完第一堂後就覺得「咦？好像還可以？」。我從一個對韓文零經驗的新人，都能夠聽懂韓國老師用韓語的大部分內容，這都有賴SPACE在基礎韓語和入門韓語的課程為我打下紮實的基礎。

中級的內容會比之前多不少，例如文章和聆聽內容的長度會比之前長一倍。文法方面在教授舊有的文法同時，也會教授更多描述事情和表達情感的文法。剛開始時會感到有點吃力，但在老師的教導下很快就能適應。

轉眼就到韓語高級的課程，我越來越能聽懂韓劇裡主角所說的台詞，也越來越有信心用韓語跟韓國人溝通。我很享受這些變化，也期待有越來越多變化！

Studying Korean at HKU SPACE was one of the best decisions I have ever made!! In the recent Intermediate Korean course, not only did it equip me with all-rounded skills to read, write, listen and speak Korean with much more confidence, there were also opportunities to learn about the Korean culture and customs which helped us to better understand the Korean language. 

During class, we also drafted short posts using newly learned vocabulary and grammar. It was fun to share and learn interesting stories from our classmates each time!

A big thank you to our professional teacher who provided tremendous support and encouragement throughout the course, helping me to overcome the fear of making mistakes (which I was always conscious about when learning a new language) and finally being able to see them as learning opportunities.

Overall, if you are looking for interactive and rewarding classes, this course is for you! It may also become your motivation to wake up early for a Sunday morning 10AM class, just like how it became mine! :)
