Programme Details

PROGRAMME DescriptioN

This programme is a 2.5-year part-time advanced diploma programme, which will provide students with a solid foundation in the accounting and Big Data fields.  Holders of the Advanced Diploma currently receive exemptions:

  • Up to 3 papers' exemption from the ACCA;
  • Up to 9 modules' exemptions from University of Hull Bachelor of Science (Hons) Accounting degree programme.

課程簡介

本課程是一個可於兩年半內完成的兼讀制高等文憑課程，旨在為學生奠定良好的會計及大數據基礎。學生畢業後可以獲得以下專業機構及海外大學認可：

  • 特許公認會計師公會（ACCA）專業考試最多3張考卷豁免；
  • 英國赫爾大學會計學（榮譽）理學士並獲最多9學科豁免。

INTENDED LEARNING OUTCOMES

On completion of the programme, students should be able to 

1. apply the concepts and principles of accounting as a system of information for decision making;
2. record, prepare, present and analyse financial statements of an organisation;
3. apply the theories and concepts of business economics and financial management to analyse financial risks;
4. integrate broad business concepts with specialised knowledge in accounting;
5. design and implement methodologies for examining, verifying, evaluating financial statements of an organisation;  
6. identify and discuss ethical issues related to business and accounting; and
7.      apply and integrate the applications of Big Data, Blockchain and Analytics in accounting and corporate governance. 

Exemption

Exemptions up to 6 modules can be granted to students with suitable qualifications from recognised post-secondary institutions or professional bodies.

Assessment

Assessment is based on coursework (40%), final examination (60%), and attendance (at least 70% of the sessions).

Upon successful completion of Modules 1-13, students will be awarded within the HKU system through HKU SPACE an Advanced Diploma in Accounting and Big Data.
 
成功修畢13學科單元後，按香港大學體制，經香港大學專業進修學院頒授會計及大數據高等文憑。

There are 13 modules altogether, the majority of the modules consists of 36 hours of lecture and 18 hours of tutorial. 

課程一共13學科單元，大部分學科單元包含36小時的授課及18小時的導修課。

Class Details

Most of the classes will be held once a week on weekday evenings, Saturday afternoon/evening or Sunday morning/afternoon. The class for Financial Accounting may be held twice a week.

大部份學科每星期需上課一節，每節課時三個小時。一般於平日晚間或星期六下午 / 晚間 或星期日上午 / 下午上課。Financial Accounting ,每星期或需上課兩節。

Entry Requirements

Applicants shall:

  • have gained in the HKDSE Examination Level 2 or above in 5 subjects including English Language, or equivalent; OR
  • have gained at least pass in 1 AL or 2 AS-level subjects in HKALE; and 3 passes in the HKCEE PLUS Level 2/Grade E* or above in English Language, or equivalent; OR
  • have a degree or diploma from a recognized institution, OR
  • be mature students aged 21 or above.

* With effect from 2007, HKU SPACE recognises Grade E previously awarded for  English Language (Syllabus B), Grade C in the case of Syllabus A at HKCEE as an acceptable alternative to Level 2 in the subject at HKCEE.

*Copies of ID card, academic certificates and transcripts are required for application.

    * 由2007年開始，學院確認於香港中學會考英國語文科﹝課程乙﹞的E級成績【英國語文科﹝課程甲﹞的C級成績】，與香港中學會考英語文科的第二級成績為同等。

1. Cash, EPS, WeChat Pay Or Alipay

Course fees can be paid by cash, EPS, WeChat Pay or Alipay at any HKU SPACE Enrolment Centres.

2. Cheque Or Bank draft

Course fees can also be paid by crossed cheque or bank draft made payable to “HKU SPACE”. Please specify the programme title(s) for application and applicant’s name. You may either:

  • bring the completed form(s), together with the appropriate course or application fees in the form of a cheque, and any required supporting documents to any of the HKU SPACE enrolment centres;
  • or mail the above documents to any of the HKU SPACE Enrolment Centres, specifying “Course Application” on the envelope. HKU SPACE will not be responsible for any loss of personal information and payment sent by mail.
3. VISA/Mastercard

Applicants may also pay the course fee by VISA or Mastercard, including the “HKU SPACE Mastercard”, at any HKU SPACE enrolment centres. Holders of the HKU SPACE Mastercard can enjoy a 10-month interest-free instalment period for courses with a tuition fee worth a minimum of HK$2,000; however, the course applicant must also be the cardholder himself/herself. For enquiries, please contact our staff at any enrolment centres.

4. Online Payment

Online application / enrolment is offered for most open admission courses (enrolled on first come, first served basis) and selected award-bearing programmes. Application fees and course fees of these programmes/courses can be settled by using "PPS by Internet" (not available via mobile phones), VISA or Mastercard. In addition to the aforesaid online payment channels, new and continuing students of award-bearing programmes with available online service, they may also pay their course fees by Online WeChat Pay, Online Alipay or Faster Payment System (FPS). Please refer to Enrolment Methods - Online Enrolment  for details.

Notes

  • If the programme/course is starting within five working days, application by post is not recommended to avoid any delays. Applicants are advised to enrol in person at HKU SPACE Enrolment Centres and avoid making cheque payment under this circumstance.

  • Fees paid are not refundable except under very exceptional circumstances (e.g. course cancellation due to insufficient enrolment), subject to the School’s discretion. In exceptional cases where a refund is approved, fees paid by cash, EPS, WeChat Pay, Alipay, cheque, FPS or PPS by Internet will be reimbursed by a cheque, and fees paid by credit card will be reimbursed to the credit card account used for payment. 

  • In addition to the published fees, there may be additional costs associated with individual programmes. Please refer to the relevant course brochures or direct any enquiries to the relevant programme team for details.
  • Fees and places on courses cannot be transferrable from one applicant to another. Once accepted onto a course, the student may not change to another course without approval from HKU SPACE. A processing fee of HK$120 will be levied on each approved transfer.
  • HKU SPACE will not be responsible for any loss of payment, receipt, or personal information sent by mail.
  • For payment certification, please submit a completed form, a sufficiently stamped and self-addressed envelope, and a crossed cheque for HK$30 per copy made payable to “HKU SPACE” to any of our enrolment centres.
