This 21-hour additional English workshop will build a strong foundation in English to maximise your learning outcomes in the Preparatory Workshops and enhance your readiness for the Hong Kong OLQE (Overseas Lawyers Qualification Examination).

WORKSHOP Details

The traditional pathway of qualifying as a legal practitioner is the PCLL which SPACE’s Top 3 Law programmes, namely, Advanced Diploma for Legal Executives (ADLE), Common Professional Examination (CPE) and London LL.B, have already formed a formidable force in catalysing top quality candidates to the legal profession. For lawyers already qualified in other jurisdictions to gain local Hong Kong legal qualification, an alternative route is to take part in the Overseas Lawyer Qualification Examination (OLQE) – the examination which enables qualified overseas lawyers to obtain HK law qualification.

For PRC lawyers who want to move to Hong Kong, sitting the OLQE is the route. Most importantly, the OLQE exams are in English, our Preparatory Workshop for OLQE series which targets cross-border lawyers is intense, and the materials are rich with limited time to revise.

An additional English workshop alongside with the OLQE preparatory workshop series is therefore well worthwhile for OLQE candidates to put in the extra time, energy and efforts.

Our English trainers will help the OLQE candidates with emphasis on the strategies and language skills for exam success in the written Heads. During the English Skills Workshop for OLQE, you will build a strong foundation in English to maximise your learning outcomes in the Preparatory Workshops and enhance your readiness for the OLQE by:

• mastering key English vocabulary and legal terms for each written Head;
• understanding how to effectively present essential concepts in English;
• learning the art of answering law exam questions effectively in English and
• gaining a thorough knowledge of how to tackle questions and organise answers that appeal to the examiners;
• practising past papers and conduct text analyses;
• obtaining personalised feedback; and
• learning how to avoid common mistakes in written Heads

Participants should be qualified PRC lawyers with an intermediate level of English proficiency.
