This project “Development of a Virtual Reality Laboratory with Multi-User Virtual Reality Content for Aviation Industry” (VR Lab Project) is funded by the Quality Enhancement Support Scheme (QESS) under the Education Bureau. It aims to showcase the possibilities of using VR in teaching and learning for the Aviation Industry. To achieve the project objectives, three sets of multi-user VR applications have been developed; a VR Lab equipped with four room-scale VR stations has been setup at our Island East Campus and the service was commenced since May 2020.

Such technological innovation provides an immersive experience, enhances autonomy to perform authentic tasks in a virtual situation, as well as simulates of a series of procedural trainings for practicing team collaboration and communication when handling emergency scenarios. Adopting VR technology with tailor-made enriched content in our Aviation Programmes could increase students' motivation and provide a virtual yet realistic and safe environment for learning-by-doing.
