In 1981, Prof. Kwan obtained his Master of Commerce degree from Hitotsubashi University in Japan. In 2003 he obtained his Doctor of Business Administration degree from University of Western Sydney in Australia. His other professional qualifications include CPA (Australia) and Fellow of Institute of Management Consultants. He started his career in the shipping industry, having spent 7 years in Japan before moving on to the banking industry. He first worked for NYK of the Mitsubishi Group, then World-Wide of the YK PAO Group. He was with Citibank for nearly 9 years before moving onto Merrill Lynch. He returned to HK to work for CEF of the KS LI Group. He also spent 3 years in Singapore with Otis of the United Technologies Corporation. He has been the CFO of Yew Chung Education Foundation since 2011. He started investing in start-up companies since 1988 and has been entrepreneurial. He had been involved in 3 start-up companies which all got publicly listed successfully. Currently he is embarking on a new initiative on ANDROID mobile based platform on education. He also teaches finance and accounting subjects in UIC and HKBU from time to time, since 2004.

As an innovator, engineer, and marketer, Mr. Ma has around 20 years of industry working experience in a few global science companies (such as GE, DuPont, and 3M) as business leader leading cross-functional teams in Greater China and Asia Pacific for market-driven innovation and new product development across different industries. Prior to his current role as the Senior Program Director of HKU SPACE, he was the CMO (Technology & Incubation) of HKUST and the first Director - Materials Innovation of FOSSIL Group (Listed in USA). Academically, Mr. Ma holds an MBA degree from the University of Cambridge and is pursuing his doctoral degree at the University of Hong Kong with research focus on cross-sector (university-industry-government) collaboration, market-driven innovation, knowledge transfer, technology commercialization, and regional innovation systems in Hong Kong and Mainland China.

Dr. Li is now the Senior Manager of Hong Kong Carbon Emission Trading Ltd, who has more than 10 years’ research and working experiences in carbon and energy market, published more than 10 SCI papers and won essay contests 4 times. He leads a team to establish HK’s first trading platform for emission reduction products & participate the CPU funded Project “study on emission trading in the mainland: option for Hong Kong”; He leads a team to invest & develop the first batch of CCER projects & develop the first collateralized loans for carbon sink project in China; He has rich experiences in low carbon consulting and carbon asset management, capacity building, Fintech application &carbon finance innovation.
