Learning Outcomes
On completion of the programme, students will be able to:
- Conduct nursing assessments based on advanced knowledge and skills in endoscopy centre and clinical gastroenterology;
- Evaluate different therapeutic management approaches in meeting the needs of patients and their families;
- Practice as a competent member in a multidisciplinary health care team working in endoscopy and gastroenterology nursing/units;
- Apply comprehensive, quality nursing care incorporating specialized knowledge and skills to enhance and maintain the optimal health of patients;
- Develop an evidence-based health promotion project for patient and family caregivers on the maintenance of healthy lifestyle;
- Apply relevant and sound evidence from the literature in leading ndoscopy and astroenterology nursing practice and studies.

Module 1: Advanced Practice in Endoscopy Nursing
Introduction
This course aims to provide registered nurses advanced knowledge and skills in endoscopy nursing. Upon completion of this course, students will be able to practice competently and effectively in the specialty areas of clinical gastroenterology in the hospitals and in the community.
Learning Outcomes
On completion of the course, students should be able to:
- Identify different therapeutic endoscopic approaches for diagnostic and screening tests;
- Apply specialised knowledge and nursing skills to enhance health care outcomes in endoscopy units;
- Perform as a competent and accountable nurse specialised in endoscopy unit;
- Evaluate the effectiveness of the outcomes of endoscopic interventions based on nursing assessment; and
- Collaborate efficiently with the multidisciplinary health care team in endoscopy unit.

Award

Module 2: Evidence-based Practice in Gastroenterology Nursing
Learning Outcome
On completion of the course, students should be able to:
- Critically review the common research approaches, outcomes and effectiveness in gastroenterology applications;
- Analyze issues in matching research questions to an appropriate research method; and
- Conduct a literature review on an evidence-based intervention of a gastroenterology condition.

Module 4: Professional Development in Gastroenterology Nursing
Introduction
The aim of the module is to enhance nurses’ knowledge and skills in personal and professional development and thus to demonstrate leadership and nursing role model in gastroenterology settings.
Learning Outcomes
On completion of the course, students should be able to:
- Critique on different theories and models in professional leadership in health care;
- Analyze essential competency for professionalism in endoscopy and gastroenterology Nursing/units;
- Perform competently as a case manager in handling critical clinical situations encountered in endoscopy and gastroenterology nursing/units; and
- Practice as a role model in negotiation, critical thinking and problem-solving in Gastroenterology settings.

Entry Requirements
Applicants shall
- be Registered Nurses who are registered with the Nursing Council of Hong Kong and have at least two years of post-registration work experience;
AND
- hold a relevant Bachelor’s degree awarded by a recognized university.
If the degree or equivalent qualification is from an institution where the language of teaching and assessment is not English, applicants shall provide evidence of English proficiency, such as:
- an overall band of 6.0 or above with no subtests lower than 5.5 in the IELTS; or
- a score of 550 or above in the paper-based TOEFL, or a score of 213 or above in the computer-based TOEFL, or a score of 80 or above in the internet-based TOEFL; or
- HKALE Use of English at Grade E or above; or
- HKDSE Examination English Language at Level 3 or above; or
- equivalent qualifications.
Applicants with other qualifications will be considered on individual merit.

Course fees can be paid by cash, EPS at any HKU SPACE Enrolment Centres.
2. Cheque Or Bank Draft
Course fees can also be paid by crossed cheque or bank draft made payable to “HKU SPACE”. Please specify the programme title(s) for application and applicant’s name. You may either:
- bring the completed form(s), together with the appropriate course or application fees in the form of a cheque, and any required supporting documents to any of the HKU SPACE enrolment centres;
- or mail the above documents to any of the HKU SPACE Enrolment Centres, specifying “Course Application” on the envelope. HKU SPACE will not be responsible for any loss of payment sent by mail.
3. VISA/MasterCard
Applicants may also pay the course fee by VISA or MasterCard, including the “HKU SPACE MasterCard”, at any HKU SPACE enrolment centres. Holders of the HKU SPACE MasterCard can enjoy a 10-month interest-free instalment period for courses with a tuition fee worth a minimum of HK$2,000; however, the course applicant must also be the cardholder himself/herself. For enquiries, please contact our staff at any enrolment centres.
Notes:
- For general and short courses, applicants may be required to pay the course fee in cash or by EPS, WeChat Pay, Visa or MasterCard if the course is to start shortly.
- Fees paid are not refundable except under very exceptional circumstances (e.g. course cancellation due to insufficient enrolment), subject to the School’s discretion. In exceptional cases where a refund is approved, fees paid by cash, EPS, WeChat Pay, cheque or PPS (for online payment only) will normally be reimbursed by a cheque, and fees paid by credit card will normally be reimbursed to the payment cardholder’s credit card account.
