One-on-one online consultation is available.

The MBA consists of seven compulsory and two elective courses chosen from a range of options. For each course, students will be provided with comprehensive study materials available in English.

Each MBA course will require approximately 200 hours of study. To complete the MBA, you must pass the assessment (timed online coursework) in seven compulsory courses and two elective courses.

You may study the MBA programme by distance learning.

 What is the application deadline? How much is the application fee?

 

We accept application throughout the year.  There is a non-refundable application fee of HK$150 as initial handling fee.

When can I apply for the MBA Programme?

 

Distance learners can commence the MBA Programme at any time and study on a course per course basis. 

 6.

How much is the total fee of this MBA?

 

Please note that in order to obtain the MBA awarded by Heriot-Watt University; you need to complete 7 core courses and 2 electives courses in distance learning mode. The estimated total fees of this MBA are as follows:

  • Online mode only: £9,000 (£1,000 per module), plus assessment fees (£160 per module). (fees are subject to change without prior notice)

What is the installment schedule?

 8. Is there a separate exam for each module?
  There is no examination. Each course is assessed by a  ‘Timed Online Coursework’ where you will be given a total duration of 24 hours within which to complete the coursework.

Can I apply for exemption? What are the criteria?

 

You can apply for exemptions from core courses in the MBA programme. Eligibility for exemption is based on academic achievement only, not on work experience. Exemptions may be awarded as follows:

  • if a student holds relevant academic or professional qualifications (gained within the last two yearswhich are of a degree level and have been obtained by examination;
  • an undergraduate degree from a recognised University in a subject which is a core MBA course;
  • credit transfer may be available for equivalent study from recognised institutions.

Please note that Edinburgh Business School is the sole authority for the granting of exemptions.

How can I apply for exemption?

 

You should download and complete the Exemption Application form and send it with supporting documentation to Edinburgh Business School with the appropriate fee per course (GBP160). Edinburgh Business School may request additional information about potential exemptions and may ask the student to sit an exemption examination if there is any doubt as to an individual’s eligibility. Any claims for exemptions should be undertaken prior to purchase of the respective course and HKU SPACE will need to take this into account when scheduling students’ programmesof study.

Will the GBP160 fee be refunded if my application for exemption was not successful?

 

Where Edinburgh Business School rejects an application for an exemption, the fee paid (GBP160) would be used to cover the assessment fee (GBP160) in the relevant course. The fee paid would not be refunded.

What is the average passing rate?

 

For students registering from Hong Kong, the average course passing rate is close to 100%, but please note that different courses have different average passing rate.

Timed-Online-Coursework

>*Edinburgh Business School timetables three assessment sessions in  April, August and December . In accordance with Heriot-Watt University’s policy on examining across international time zones, the start time of each sitting may vary from country to country. The exact local start time of your online coursework will be advised in your assessment details letter.

Distance learners can commence at any time and study on a course per course basis.

All candidates are enrolled with Edinburgh Business School (EBS) at the point of entry:

To be eligible for registration as a Heriot-Watt student (matriculated), a candidate shall hold at least one of the following qualifications:

  • a degree with first or second class honours of Heriot-Watt University
  • a degree with first or second class honours of any other University or institution of higher education recognised by Heriot-Watt University
  • passes in three EBS courses, at least one of which must be core course
  • any other qualification deemed by the University Senate to be acceptable

Candidates who do not meet the criteria at the point of entry will matriculate when they have passed in three EBS courses, at least one of which must be core course.

Enrolment Method

Applicants are required to complete and return the application form with application fee HK$150 to any of our enrolment centres. Applicants should bring along with the following documents:

  1. Original and photocopy of your HKID card; and
  2. Evidence of every qualification listed on the application form, including original certificates/transcripts and a set of COLOUR COPY of award certificates and full official transcripts (for bachelor degree level and above and/or professional qualifications).

* Original certificates and transcripts together with the copies are required to be presented to any HKU SPACE Learning Centre for verification.

Payment Method
  • Application fee  can be paid by cash / EPS / VISA / MASTER / Cheque in any of HKU SPACE enrolment centres.
  • Module fee is paid by Bank Draft payable to HKU SPACE.
