This programme aims to provide you with comprehensive knowledge and relevant skills of financial services to develop your career in banking, financial compliance, investment, insurance and wealth management. Sub-degree graduates in business can complete this part-time top-up degree programme in 2 years. BA (Hons) Financial Services has obtained local accreditation status with QF Level 5.

We offer this 2-year top-up programme with Edinburgh Napier University, UK. It offers students the opportunity either to enter the financial services industry or, if they already have professional insurance or banking qualifications, to enhance their existing skills and knowledge. HKUSPACE provides face-to-face teaching of 33 hours per module by local tutors, supplemented by revisions of 9 hours per module by UK lecturers. Students will be provided with a comprehensive set of course materials as well as have access to Napier's electronic library and student's online portal.

金融專題講座-- 金融服務業上位有「秘笈」?

金融及銀行業是帶動香港經濟發展的龍頭,對人才的需求一直十分殷切,加上近期眾多計劃及政策,包括滬港通、基金互認、深港通及人民幣國際化、一帶一路等的推出,從業員在行業裏發展,可說是不愁沒有好機遇的。「其實除了機遇,還有挑戰。」HKU SPACE金融商業學院高級課程主任陳耀光博士(Ringo)於一個題為《金融專題講座:如何加入金融服務業人才短缺的部門?》的講座中說。「一直以來,業界及從業員都不斷在變:例如,在08年金融海嘯發生後,業界對風險管理(Risk Management)、企業管治(Corporate Governance)、法規(Compliance)的人才需求可謂『史無前例』,而在這兩年,銀行有增加聘請前線人員(如客戶關係經理等職位)的趨勢。」

Ringo說:「對沒有金融相關背景而又想轉行的人士,及本身已是從業員但又想轉換工作性質的人士而言,我會建議他們報讀一些短期的課程或高級文憑課程。例如,我們的BA(Hons) Financial Services, Edinburgh Napier University,就是專為在職人士而設。畢業後,他們更可繼續升學,考取碩士資格。」

 

大行求生之法

金融服務業界除了著重從業員的專業知識及技能,亦十分重視他們的「軟技巧」(Softskills)。「我可以告訴你,在我們銀行裏,能享高薪厚職的人,往往擁有很好的溝通技巧及表達自己的才能。」講座另一嘉賓、匯豐銀行招聘部主管Roger Ng說。「如果你想在公司或行業內有良好的發展,你必須懂得擴闊自己的人脈:在公司內認識不同部門不同階層的人,在外多認識一些業界人士。人脈越廣,機會越多。」

被問到可給年輕人或有志投身銀行業的人士一些甚麼提示時,Roger說:「我認為擁有『敢試敢做』的態度十分重要。不少人在加入公司時,並不清楚自己想要甚麼或想做甚麼,這並不要緊:只要你肯去學,當掌握好自身的工作後,你大可去了解同事的工作、上司的工作、其他部門的工作。你要明白,單是一間銀行內,已有無數的工作崗位及機會讓你發揮。此外,上司吩咐你做的工作,如不超過你的底線,就應該盡力盡快完成        不論你清楚其目的與否。只要你得到上司的信任,工作上時常能交出成績,你被上司、甚至是上司的上司賞識的機會便會大增。」

Non-Local Higher and Professional Education (Regulation) Ordinance

These are exempted courses under the Non-local Higher and Professional Education (Regulation) Ordinance. It is a matter of discretion for individual employers to recognise any qualification to which these courses may lead.

Duration
  • The programme will be offered in a part-time study mode. There will be 3 semesters a year in March, July and November. Two modules will be offered in each semester. Students may complete the programme in 2 years.

Minimum Entry Requirements 

Applicants shall:
 
(a) have an Associate Degree or Higher Diploma or Advanced Diploma in a business
related discipline awarded within the HKU system through HKU SPACE; or
 
(b) have an equivalent award granted by a recognised institution. Holders of Associate
Degrees, Higher Diplomas or Advanced Diplomas in a relevant discipline will be
considered on a case-by-case basis; or
 
(c) have a degree in other disciplines. Degree holders in non-business disciplines will be
considered based on individual merit; or
 
(d) hold equivalent qualifications.
 
 
 
Advanced entry with further exemption from a maximum of 40 credits (2 modules) in
Stage 3 or 4 may be considered on an exceptional basis for holders of appropriate entry qualification higher than those mentioned in points (a) to (d) above, but it is emphasized that, in such exceptional cases, credits already counted for meeting the above will not be counted again for further exemption.
 
 
Note:
An Honours degree programme at Edinburgh Napier University normally takes four
years to complete. Students normally complete their Stages 3 and 4 modules during
their third and fourth years of study respectively.

Enrolment Method

1. All applicants are required to complete one APPLICATION and one ENROLMENT Form and either submit them in person or post them to The Programme Leader, Bachelor of Arts (with Honours) in Financial Services, College of Business and Finance, HKUSPACE.

2. All applications, either by post or in person must be accompanied by:

a) Certified photostat copies of full educational certificates and transcripts

b) One crossed cheque for the relevant amount payable to 'HKUSPACE' in respect of the course fee.

c) A separate non-refundable crossed cheque payable to 'HKUSPACE' for $200 in respect of the application processing fee.

d) A separate non-refundable crossed cheque payable to 'HKU SPACE' for HK$1,667 for a HKU Borrower's card, only if you wish to apply for one.

Note: When submitting your application in person at any HKUSPACE enrolment centres, please bring along the originals of your educational certificates / transcripts for certification.  If by post, please arrange to bring the originals of the relevant documents for certification at any HKUSPACE enrolment centres before the commencement of classes. The Brochure and Enrolment Form for Nov 2016 intake will be available after Oct 2016.

Payment Method

Course fee can be paid by crossed cheque or bank draft made payable to 'HKUSPACE'.  Please specify the programme title for application, student's name and student card number (if applicable).  You may either:

  • bring the completed form(s) together with the appropriate course / application fees in the form of acheque and any required supporting documents to any of the HKUSPACE enrolment centres.
  • or mail the above documents to any of the HKUSPACE enrolment centres, specifying "Course Application" on the envelope.  HKUSPACE will not be responsible for any loss of payment sent by mail.

Applicants may also pay the course / application fee by VISA or Master Card including "HKUSPACE Master Card" at any HKUSPACE enrolment Centre.
