Programme Structure
The entire programme consists of 24 units. Enrolled students will normally be granted exemptions from 8 units, and need to complete 16 units over four semesters as follows:

Notes:
- The above programme structure is intended for use by prospective students as a guide. HKU SPACE and The University of Western Australia reserve the right to vary the structure.
- For students who have already attained Level 4 or above in the Japanese Language Proficiency Test (JLPT), an exemption from the first two Japanese units will be given. These students are required to take another two available electives in order to make up the exempted credits. Further exemptions from "Japanese 3a", "Japanese 3" and/ or "Japanese 4" will be determined by the Admissions Committee on individual basis.
Duration of Study & Awards
With full exemptions from the first year of study, students can complete the programme in two years.
Upon satisfactory completion of the programme, students will be awarded the Bachelor of Arts (Asian Studies) by The University of Western Australia.
Teaching Mode
This programme is taught jointly by UWA and HKU SPACE academic staff. All teachings will be complemented by iLectures, seminar discussions, and tutorials.
Assessment
Students will be assessed by a combination of group projects, individual essays, multi-media assignments, and examinations, depending on the subject areas.
Further Studies
Qualifications from UWA are highly recognised. Graduates of the BA (Asian Studies) can pursue postgraduate studies in Management, Public Administration, Social Sciences and Language Studies.

Graduates from the programme is ideally placed to take up this challenge with their ability to reason and communicate. This makes them an asset to most business, media and government organisations.
Tuition Fee
The tuition fee for the 2012/13 academic year is HK$33,000 per semester (four semesters in total, depending on exemptions granted), payable in four instalments.
Other Fees
Student Activities' Association fee: HK$160, payable in four instalments.
On Campus Transfer
As the Bachelor of Arts (Asian Studies) offered in Hong Kong is the same degrees as that offered at the Perth campus of UWA, students may transfer after a year of study and take full credit for units completed in Hong Kong. Bachelor of Arts (Asian Studies) students may transfer as well to a Bachelor of Arts general degree with credits for units.
Work Placement Opportunities
Opportunities for work placement are available for students. Over the past few years, media and communication students in CIDP have been put in notable media corporations and establishments including ATV, Cable TV, Metro Daily, McCann Erickson, Men's Uno, RTHK, SC Media, SCMP and Sing Tao News Corp. etc.
The University of Western Australia Scholarship
In the 2012/13 academic year, a scholarship will be awarded to a new entrant studying BA (Asian Studies) programme with outstanding performance in his/ her AD/ HD study. The recipient will receive HK$10,000.
Continuing Education Fund
Selected units in the programmes have been approved for inclusion in the list of reimbursable courses for CEF purposes.
